End of Season Thoughts

Well, it's the end of the real and legitimate ski races in North America for the 2011 season.    All the national team coaches have gone home and will not pay much attention, if any, to what happens from now until mid-May.  They've got roofs to install and houses to build because, well, they don't get paid enough.  I guess you could race downhill for another few weeks, but, well, meh.

At the end of the year, do you feel compelled to keep racing, begging for that one other result?  Dying to make the flip Just. One. More. Time.  I know I can do it, I just need that one race.  Need need need, want want want, wah wah wah.

Take some advice from Darryl Philbin:  Man up.  Be your best self.  Say no to the desperation.  Have some faith in yourself and take a break.  Then, make an actual plan for how you're actually going to get better - think long term - and follow through on it.  The number one mistake any athlete makes throughout their career is not sticking to their plan, so for God's sake learn from EVERYONE else's mistake.

If you had a good year, enjoy it for a while, and then do the same thing that all those other fools need to do: Plan, and EXECUTE.  Otherwise, you'll be in their shoes in t-minus 365 days.
