Livin' On The Fringe

First, check out this video and note the obvious parallels to ski racing. Nice to know there are lots of other fringe-dwellers in the world, isn't it?

As opposed to life on the edge, life on the fringe isn't always that great. When you can't seem to osmose to the inside of the bubble, you sit on the outside, marginalized.  The people on the inside have every advantage over you: they get paid, they have people who work for them and help them, they have inside access to the best equipment (and lots of it), etc.  It's interesting to hear what the motocross privateers have to say.  Some of them will never "make it," some will, and one of them has made it and then gone back.  The parallels are obvious.  And yet, in skiing and in motorcycles, some people will find a way.  What makes the difference?
